Local exports
For local document and archive downloads, GingerCat reads the supported AI chat page you already have open and generates the requested file in your browser.
This may include the visible conversation text, headings, lists, tables, code blocks, images, attachment references and page metadata needed to create the export. Chat content is processed on your device for the export you request. It is not transmitted to GingerCat servers, stored by GingerCat, sold, used for advertising or made available for human review.
Optional cloud destinations
Google Docs, Notion and Obsidian exports run only when you explicitly choose those destinations. The selected destination provider receives the content needed to create the document or vault files.
Google Docs requires Google authorization and creates a document in your Google Drive. Notion export can use your currently signed-in Notion browser session so you can choose an existing workspace or page. Obsidian export creates local files for your vault. You can revoke provider access from the provider account settings where applicable.
Account and Pro access data
When you sign in, GingerCat stores the minimum account information needed to recognize your email, account session and Pro entitlement status.
Payment processing is handled by Creem, GingerCat's merchant of record. GingerCat stores Creem status events needed to recognize Pro access, but does not store card numbers.
Data we use
GingerCat may process personal communications and website content from supported AI chat pages only to create the export requested by the user.
GingerCat may also store extension settings, selected export options, destination preferences, local usage counters, account status hints and connection metadata needed for the popup, cloud destination and entitlement workflows.
Website analytics
The public GingerCat website uses Google Analytics only after you choose to allow analytics. You can decline analytics without affecting the extension, exports, account or checkout. This helps us improve the website, documentation and installation flow.
Website analytics are not used to read chat content, generate exports, sell data, or target advertising. Do not put private chat content into support or account forms unless it is needed for your request.
Extension product diagnostics
The GingerCat extension sends minimal technical diagnostics events to GingerCat account services to measure installation, popup reliability, supported chat detection, user-requested export success or failure, and Pro checkout actions.
These diagnostics are allowlisted and do not include chat content, prompts, model answers, concrete chat URLs, filenames, document titles, Notion or Google Docs page names, email addresses, attachments, images, raw stack traces, browser locale or country.
Sharing
We do not sell user data and do not use chat content for advertising, tracking, credit decisions or unrelated profiling.
Data is shared only when needed for the feature you choose: with Google for Google sign-in or Google Docs export, with Notion for Notion export, with your local Obsidian files when you choose Obsidian export, with GingerCat account services for sign-in and entitlement checks, and with Creem for purchases, invoices, taxes, renewals, cancellations and refunds.
Google API Limited Use
GingerCat uses Google account and Google Drive access only for user-facing sign-in and Google Docs export features that you choose.
The use of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Chrome permissions
The extension is designed with narrow permissions such as activeTab, scripting, storage, identity and host access for supported destinations. It uses the cookies permission only for the optional Notion session export workflow and does not request webRequest, debugger or broad all-sites access.
Content scripts run only on supported AI chat pages.
Security and retention
GingerCat uses HTTPS for website, account and cloud-destination requests. Local export files are created on your device and remain under your control.
Account and entitlement records are retained while needed to provide account, Pro access, billing support and security functions. Allowlisted extension diagnostics are retained for up to 90 days. A one-way hash derived from the requesting network address may be processed temporarily to prevent abuse and enforce request limits; the raw address is not stored in diagnostic events.
